Middle East Grain Silo Contract Underway Redler

Detailed design and manufacturing has commenced for the complete mechanical conveying and electrical control systems for The Kuwait Flour Mills & Bakeries Company.

Stock Redler Limited, the UK based bulk materials handling and storage specialists, was awarded the huge project in 2008 for the complete system design and supply of all related mechanical and electrical elements for a new 160,000 tonne Grain Silo and processing facility, which will be one of the largest of its kind in the Middle East.

The order, which was one of the largest single contracts in the Redler's 80 year history, was won against stiff competition from companies throughout Europe. In securing the order Redler drew upon its depth of knowledge of grain silos to propose a design for an outstanding process system solution, incorporating the latest conveying, control and dust explosion protection, technology.

This government owned complex in Kuwait is the only flour mill in the country and as well as manufacturing flour, it supplies bulk and bagged grain for inland distribution, with all collected grain dust and screenings being pelletized for use in animal feed.   The company also has biscuit and pasta productions on site as well as owning numerous bakeries throughout Kuwait.

Two silo blocks (centre right) now demolished

Originally there were four concrete silos on the huge site complex in Kuwait and the new investment has seen two of these demolished to make way for the massive new 160,000 tonne silo to be constructed alongside a silo previously equipped by Redler in the early 1980's.

Demolition and ground clearance is now complete, with the area being extensively piled. Further civil works will be commencing soon and these will be on a phased basis to suit the project programme as the head-house and silo storage cells are constructed over the next two years.

Ground prepared for new 160,000 tonne silo complex

The huge new silo will contain 140 individual storage cells will be fed by Redler conveying and elevating equipment with both road and ship intakes. High capacities, ranging from 300 - 600 tph for materials such as wheat, barley and soya beans will be achieved.

The Redler contract for the design, supply, supervision and commissioning of the new system is due for delivery towards the end of 2009 with installation and a phased handover planned for 2010/11.

This business demonstrates again the strength and capabilities within the Redler organisation to work very closely with the client and their selected consultants & civil engineering contractors, in the fulfilment of a total turnkey solution.

Bulk Materials Handling Director, Andrew Workman, stated that this contract was the result of several years' hard work I and shows how Redler are considered as a major player within the grain handling and storage business throughout the world. This has resulted in an increase in the grain silo and cereal business, for Redler, in the past year.

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
