Redler selected for Bulk Material Handling at New Scottish Steephouse Development
Redler have been selected and contracted to design, manufacture and supply all of the bulk materials handling equipment associated with the new steephouse for the Greencore Maltings plant in Buckie, Scotland for completion and hand over in 2008 as a capital investment project.
The Redler bulk materials handling system is to convey original barley from its storage source and be transported at high level across to the new steephouse, whereby a further chain conveyor then discharges the barley down into the new stainless steel steep tanks.
Beneath each row of steeps a belt conveyor specially designed for the handling of steeped barley receives the material and transfers it via a common screw conveyor and then into a belt and bucket elevator with a wash down and clean out function incorporated, that works in tandem with the belt conveyors which must also remain clean within the process.
The steeped barley is then transferred from the elevator head across to the germinating vessels via the final Redler belt conveyor and screw conveyor which completes the handling equipment and associated ancillaries within the contract.
With the history of Redler in the Malting business both as previously a total system contractor and nowadays as a bulk material handling mechanical / electrical & control system supplier this was an excellent project to undertake within the industry and forms part of the ongoing initiative and commitment that Redler have to the Malting & Distilling Markets.
